Upon arrival the visitor is ushered into this tasting room, where a 10 minute video informs you of the history and workings of the vineyard. A self-guided tour comes next, using an illustrated booklet, and signs where to go in the vineyard.

The aero generators stand behind the solar panels, just beyond the entrance area and car park.

The power room, where output from the renewable sources are stored in lead-acid batteries. To the right of the batteries is a converter for domestic AC output.

The solar panels need to be adjusted for maximum efficiency, according to the altitude of the Sun. This is achieved simply, by moving their wooden legs! |

Red grape Rondo, its pigment spreading over the surface of the grape from spots and blotches, is useful as a colourant.
Some of the grapes at Carter's Vineyard are Orion, organically grown, to make the wine of the same name.

New planting shows up here against the longer-established vines. They have plastic sheathes to protect them.

A view across the lake to the vineyard buildings, and wine-tasting area. a very charming spot, and one where you can learn, on a practical level, about harnessing wind energy .. and the whole business of making wine.
